Welcome To Our Website. (Last updated on 8 June, 2008 )

club locomotiveThe object of Southport Model Engineering Club is to promote and encourage model engineering in Southport and surrounding areas. This covers the building and running of miniature locomotives, traction engines, stationary engines, hot air engines and like activities.

We are based in Victoria Park, at the Weld Road end of Rotten Row, Southport where we have a Clubroom and two 3.5 inch and 5 inch gauge railway tracks. The longer track, which is used for giving public rides, is approximately one-third of a mile in length.

The site is well maintained and attractive, which adds to the pleasure for members and public alike. We are adjacent to a public model boating pond for those who also have an interest in matters maritime.

Members meet in the Clubroom on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. The evening meetings include talks on all aspects of model making, project nights at which members are invited to bring their latest projects for discussion, bring and buy sales and auctions of model engineering equipment. (see Programme page). Those members lucky enough to be free from the daily grind on Wednesday daytimes meet all day and carry out new outside projects and grounds maintenance. Weather permitting, Sunday afternoons are spent operating the railway and rides are offered to visitors to the park.

The Club also has a 3.5 inch and 5 inch gauge portable railway track which is erected at various of fetes and shows throughout the area, offering train rides on behalf of the organisers (see Fetes & shows page). For further information you can email us or meet us at the track most Sunday afternoons.

The site is best viewed at a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 or above and should work fine with IE 7, Firefox 2 or equivalent.
